A Little Secret to End Skin Drought

A Little Secret to End Skin Drought

Last month we received a complimentary collection of Drought Secret products to review. Three testers tried different products for a broader review. Find out how they got on and why these products are winning awards.

The Drought Secret collection includes four great products designed for dry, irritated skin. Fast-acting balms that calm irritation, redness, and resolve dry patches. Products that are ethically made, organic, and great value for money.

Calming Butter Balm

Gentle relief for sensitive skin - restores skin balance & calms
This little pot was gifted to a dear friend, who is struggling with a very irritated, itchy skin. Whilst it cannot cure their medical condition, it offered some relief to the skin on their face. Their body is so extensively covered it would be hard to use the cream all over and expect a balanced review, as they would need a bucketful for each application. Struggling with constant itching and sores, the Calming Butter Balm offered a small reprieve for them, and hopefully will continue to make a difference.

Rescue Butter Balm

Soothes, heals & revives skin - solves severely dry skin fast.
I personally have become a bit addicted to the smell of this product, probably due to the oregano included in the balm. As I do not suffer from anything but very dry skin, I started replacing my regular moisturiser with the Rescue Butter Balm at night. The jar is packed to the brim, and at first it seems quite pricey for just 50g - until you realise how far a little bit goes. My skin is super sensitive so I am careful to patch test new products, I had no reaction at all to the Rescue Butter Balm, which sinks in quickly, as long as you don't overload your skin. Too much and you will get a residue, which can be awkward on the palms of the hands if you use it throughout the day. It has become my go-to night time moisture over the past four weeks, and yet the pot is still over half full. I have even used it with the Zinc Magic Balm, as recommended, especially on breakouts. Even at 59 we still get acne!

Drought Secret Trio

Zinc Magic Balm

Targets blemishes & irritation. Reduce redness with powerful zinc
The Zinc Magic Balm is like a luxury version of Sudocrem. I have used Sudocrem for years. It is amazing when it comes to blemishes, burns, breakouts, cuts, and grazes. Zinc Magic Balm is a lot creamer and a little goes a long way. It is also good for mixing with the other balms, for a smoother application. This has been the best product in terms of 'you only need a little' and it will last a long time, but it is an occasional use for me rather than an every day cream. Again, the 50g pot holds a lot and the value for money is obvious when you realise how long it will last. Each product has a good Best Before Date, and longevity once opened.

Drops of Thirst

Deep hydration for dry skin - comes with calming ingredients
Drops of Thirst really does live up to its name. My son (35) took this and started applying it to his scalp three nights a week, the day before a hair wash. He has suffered with a dry scalp since childhood, and none of the prescribed dandruff shampoo, steroid shampoo, anti-fungal shampoo, or medicated shampoo has had such a dramatic effect on his head. He has a dry scalp condition, not dandruff, so his head needed moisture. Within a week of using this his head stopped itching and his scalp improved. Four weeks in and his black t-shirts are not covered in flakes. He has remarked a few times about how his hair and head no longer itch, and he is not constantly making sure his shoulders are 'snowless' before he leaves the house. The bottle is not even half-empty as a few drops go a long way, and I think he will consider making this a regular purchase. He said his hair and head has never felt so good!
