If you aren't comfortable with loud, bright spaces, a busy salon can be hard to face, especially when you are looking for a relaxing experience in hair care. Finding an intimate salon on the high street is an almost impossible task, so we recommend a visit to Oxted.

For the last two years, Adam James has been offering his clients one-to-one appointments in the heart of Surrey. We were first drawn into the salon by Peter, who spied us trying to peer in from the street outside - which isn't easy, thus affording clients a good level of privacy in the salon. Peter's bright smile and warm welcome got us through the door. His amazingly long hair captivated us ever-so slightly, while his understanding and approach got us booked for a consultation. In fact, Adam was available to give us an 'on the spot' recommendation, so we left with a firm booking in place.

The experience is unlike any other. It is a welcome change to sit comfortably in soft lighting with a sense of privacy from the world outside, especially when your hair is soaking wet, or in foils or curlers. The end style will be amazing but we really don't want everyone passing by to see us in preparation mode. A completed booking should have you leaving Adam James feeling a little taller, much more relaxed, and a lot more confident about your hair.

Adam James - Product Launch

Adam James has launched their own range of hair care; six products which include:

1. No 1 Shampoo
2. No 2 Conditioner
3. No 3 Mask
4. No 4 Balm
5. No 5 Curl
6. No 6 Gloss

We invested in full-size bottles to ensure we get a good review and bought the No 1 shampoo and No 2 conditioner. There is no denying the quality of these products and they really made my hair feel softer, which is quite a challenge on wiry grey strands. However, and this is a personal choice, I am not great with fragrances, and found the shampoo was fragranced too much for my own preference. While many people like great smelling hair, I go for something less perfumed. The conditioner is a lot more subtle.

I am a 'wash once a week' curly hair girl but my son is a daily washer, and new convert to this range. He has been using the shampoo and conditioner each morning, alongside his bottle of Drought Secret Hair Oil. With a head now clear of dryness, his hair also feels and smells great. He is half way through the bottles and a very satisfied customer, who has changed from being a 'use whatever is on the shelf' guy to having his own Adam James products.
