Healthier Options from AmourCoco

Last month we met AmourCoco and were captivated by their range of whole-use coconut products. As the company is getting ready to launch their online sales via Amazon, we took delivery of their complete range of products to review, and with six different products to choose from - we tried them all.

100% Natural Coconut Water £21.29 (12 x 350ml)
Carefully selected young coconuts are used to make a naturally hydrating water, which is low in calories, and contains no added sugar or artificial ingredients.AmourCoco Water Packaged in 350ml bottles, it is ideal for post-walk/workout/exercise. The fresh, natural hydration of 100% coconut water. It kept well in the fridge and worked best chilled. Serve from the bottle, over ice, or with a splash of juice. Andy loves coconut water so this went down very well with him.

Organic Coconut Milk £14.99 (6 x 400ml)
Made from high-quality coconuts, this milk offers a smooth texture and natural flavour. This week we replaced our solid coconut cream with a can of AmourCoco milk in our favourite sweet potato curry recipe. It has a smooth, creamy taste and is easy to pour. No lumps or clumps. The kernel of carefully selected organic coconuts from Sri Lanka is blended with water before being heat treated, to preserve quality and consistency.

Organic Coconut Aminos £6.99 each (250ml)
Perfect for seasoning, marinades, dressings, stir-fries, and dips. Coconut aminos are a savory soy sauce alternative made from fermented coconut tree sap. The AmourCoco range is gluten-free, vegan, has no artificial colours or flavours, and is Non-GMO.

Original: Organic Coconut Sap, Sea Salt. A very clean soy sauce substitute. It has a vibrant salty flavour and deep amber colour. Use it wherever you would usually use soy sauce. We think it makes a great dipping sauce for sushi.

Garlic: Organic Coconut Sap, Organic Garlic, Sea Salt. This is our clear winner as we love garlic, and this sauce fits perfectly into our ingredients cupboard. It is sharp and sweet at the same time, and rich in flavour. We are looking forward to trying this in future meal planning.AmourCoco Amino Sauces

Teriyaki: Organic Coconut Sap Vinegar, Organic Coconut Sap, Sea Salt, Organic Garlic, Organic Ginger. A good alternative for those needing to eliminate soy sauce from their diets. It has a good flavour and be nice to use as a dressing but not enough to replace the original teriyaki we have been using. However this is just our taste opinion and may suit other palates.

Organic Coconut Vinegar Organic Coconut Sap. This is mixed in with the amino sauces but for us it is a stand-alone item. We think it is a brilliant vinegar alternative, and completely gluten-free so we have no worries about our gluten-intolerant eaters splashing it over their chips.

Every part of a coconut can be made useful, right down to the husk, which doesn't go to waste. Durable, non-toxic, and anti-rust dish scrubbers are just one of the products which can be made from the natural coconut fibers.

The Verdict
In summary - we are definitely interested in these products as an alternative option to soy sauces, and over the coming weeks are looking forward to exploring new ways to use them.

Coconut aminos are a safe way to add flavor to dishes, as they are much lower in sodium than soy sauce. A potential downside of coconut aminos can be the cost, but for something with these health benefits, we think it is worth it. Amour Coco is launching in the UK as a brand focused on natural, organic coconut products, including coconut water and low-fat coconut milk. Their strategy includes an Amazon UK launch targeting high-growth, natural hydration, with products designed for both health-conscious consumers and culinary use.
