Spread Your Creative Wings with Belvoir Fruit Farms to Support Butterfly Conservation

With the beautiful British countryside in full bloom and our gardens bustling with wildlife, 'original' elderflower cordial producer Belvoir Fruit Farms is inviting you to capture the magic of nature on film to win a Greek holiday.

The photographic competition will be raising money for Butterfly Conservation, the UK charity dedicated to saving butterflies, moths and our environment and will be judged by the charity's vice president, Chris Packham.

For every entry into the competition Belvoir will donate £1 to Butterfly Conservation and all entrants will be given free Butterfly Conservation membership.

The competition is split into two categories: People & Nature and Summer's Flora & Fauna.

There will be one overall winner who will receive a fantastic nature filled holiday in Greece for two from Greenwings, which donates a portion of its profits to nature conservation.

A runner up in each category will win a hamper worth £250 containing Belvoir and Butterfly Conservation goodies and shopping vouchers.

The competition is open until 31st October 2013 and is being promoted on special bottles of Belvoir's Elderflower Cordial featuring a beautiful butterfly label, available from major supermarkets.

Elder trees which produce the frothy white flowers used to make Belvoir's deliciously refreshing Elderflower Cordial are a haven for butterflies as hedgerows act as 'corridors for wildlife' which are crucial for the survival of many of Britain's rarest butterfly species. It is the second year that Belvoir has supported the charity.

I wholeheartedly support the work that Butterfly Conservation is doing to reverse the decline of butterflies and protect species for future generations.

Chris Packham commented on the importance of the charity's work

In 1946 there was an estimated 500,000 miles of hedgerow in England which by 1993 had decreased to 236,000. Although this rapid decline has been slowed through improved hedgerow management there is still more work to be done to ensure that these 'lifelines' for many of Britain's native plant, bird, mammal and butterfly populations survive.Belvoir Chris

By encouraging people to get out into the countryside and capture an image of Britain's wildlife and plants, Belvoir is hoping to increase the appreciation of our home-grown countryside and the life that dwells there.

Belvoir Fruit Farms has been producing Elderflower Cordial on the family run farm based in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir since the 80s. The recipe has been passed down from Mother to son and Belvoir became the first commercial Elderflower Cordial producer in 1984.

Since then, they have continued infusing, pressing and cooking fresh flowers, fruits and spices and blending with local spring water to create a range of delicious drinks. All of the varieties are made from the finest, freshest ingredients with no additives.
