British chocolatiers led the way in the filled chocolate categories of the World Finals of the International Chocolate Awards earlier this month, with the likes of Paul a Young and Damian Allsop beating off stiff competition from top chocolatiers from around the world. The International Chocolate Awards World Final featured the best of the best from the fine chocolate industry. Over 600 products were entered into the country rounds held in Italy, the UK, the USA and Vancouver throughout the year.

Durham City Food Festival has been declared a great success, attracting over 20,000 visitors to Durham city centre and sparking the busiest weekend for city centre retailers so far this year. Organised by Durham Markets in partnership with Durham University, Durham City's second annual Food Festival took place on 27th-28th October 2012, bringing together regional, national and international food producers for a celebration of quality food and drink in a beautiful and historic environment.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) has announced plans to open five new restaurants across the UK before the end of February 2013 as part of its UK expansion drive. The premium burger brand will open at three shopping centre locations before Christmas. The first will open on 5th November in Brent Cross shopping centre in London. Two debut sites will follow including their first restaurant in Bath which will be located in the new Vaults development, part of Southgate Shopping Centre, opening in early December.

As a special 'Thank You' to its most valued customers, Marriot Europe welcomed singer Gabrielle Aplin to sing for guests as they indulged in champagne and canapés. With The Gherkin, the highest private function space in London, lit in spectacular red and visible from the streets of the capital the setting was perfect to host a luxe reception for guests. Gabrielle Aplin is a self-taught singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist, as well as being a YouTube sensation, tipped by the music industry as the 'one to watch' in 2013.
