CarFest returned to its spiritual home of Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire over the exceptionally wet and wild August Bank Holiday Weekend (28th-30th August) for the second of this year's two sell-out family festivals. As tradition now dictates, CarFest South again combined the magical worlds of eye-catching cars, pulsating live music and mouth-watering food with heaps and heaps of fabulous fun for all the family… and, this time, with some typical festival mud thrown in, following all the recent torrential rain in southern England.

Many tiny pets are now favoured over the classic standard breed of dogs that used to be popular in the UK, with more 'handbag' dogs rising in popularity. And like it or not, these dogs need dressing! Not just because many people feel a need to dress them up like little dolls, but because many of them actually feel the cold a lot more than their standard counterparts. Top chefs and suppliers from across Kent came together at Potash Farm on Monday (August 24th) for a Cobnut-themed day of cookery demos, organised by The Chefs' Forum, including a tour of the Cobnut orchard led by proprietor Alexander Hunt. The Kentish Cobnut is a type of hazelnut traditionally grown in Kent. They are harvested in their green state from mid August and with brown shells and husks by mid October. This event set to showcase various Cobnut recipes and the versatility of this wise little fruit.

In celebration of National Burger Day on the 27th August, Herman Ze German have introduced a permanent new ze Burger Menu at their Charlotte Street branch. The specially created ze Chicken Melt is set to rouse even the most traditional burger fans.

Family Feast Day is a new ellenor fundraising campaign to raise money to help families facing terminal illness. Graham Perolls founded the Ellenor Foundation in 1985, inspired by a vision that those facing the end of life should have only the best care possible either at home, or as close to it as possible.
