On Saturday 11th May 2013 the Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa welcomed guests to an evening of gourmet gluten-free dining with guest speaker Martin Vozar, co-founder of CELIA lager. With a delicious gluten-free menu, paired wines and an entertaining guest speaker the evening was guaranteed to be a success.
The arrival of gluten-free pre-packaged paninis from Freedom Deli signals the start of a new era in free from freedom. Grabbing a quick snack in a deli or cafe can be a real chore if you follow a gluten-free diet. Many of the ready-packaged offerings available leave a lot to be desired, with lack lustre fillings on a cardboard bed of 'bread' - and if you are lucky enough to find fresh, the worry of cross-contamination can be enough to stop your appetite in it's tracks. So when we discovered Freedom Deli had won the ready meals category at the Free From Food Awards we had to try some for ourselves...
Despite only being launched into the UK market this year (2013) the growing popularity, as well as food industry and consumer reaction to CELIA gluten-free Czech craft pilsner is going from strength to strength. CELIA now boasts a prestigious 'Best Gluten Free Beer' accolade at the 2013 FreeFrom Food Awards. Co-founders Nick McNally and Martin Vozar were presented with the award in London by celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson.
The Doves Farm story began at their farm near Hungerford in 1978. In addition to their great tasting bread flours, they make a variety of organic and gluten free products including biscuits, cookies, cereal bars, breakfast cereals, pasta and baking requisites. They have two mills and two bakeries, enabling them to separate production of their organic and gluten free products. At the heart of their business however, they remain organic flour specialists.
As ever we are always on the search for a good 'free from' loaf and at the Natural & Organic Trade Show earlier this month we discovered a great little bread mix that is not only gluten and wheat free but soy, milk and yeast free too. So with an air of trepidation and a pinch of curiosity we headed over to the Sukrin stand at the show to see if their bread passed our taste test. And we were pleasantly surprised by what we found.
