Now in it's fourth year, Nigel Haworth's Fantastic Food Show is back in Blackburn on Sunday 19th May 2013 at Ewood Park. The show has attracted an array of celebrity chefs including Aldo Zilli, Tom Kerridge and Atul Kochhar - and is vast becoming one of, if not the largest food festival to take place in the region. 2013 promises to offer even more inspiration to food lovers, children and everyone who just loves to know where their food comes from, how it's produced, how it tastes, how to grow and how to cook it. Fed up with mince pies and the Christmas crackers already? If so, why not take a break from the same old traditional festivities by heading to the Ripley's Alternative Christmas Festival in the heart of Piccadilly Circus. The capital's most bizarre attraction is playing host to a series of quirky Christmas events during December.

British cooker manufacturer Belling is celebrating its 100th anniversary this week with an eight-foot interactive cake and, for five days, social media users can add to the design by tweeting a birthday message. The 'tweets' will be auto-printed onto edible paper using edible ink and added instantly to the cake. The eight-foot high birthday cake has been created by quirky cake artist Connie Viney and the design - which shows historic British events from the last 100 years - was crowdsourced via Belling's Facebook community.

The 2013 Free From Food Awards are already well into their stride with the first judging sessions, for the Christmas category coming up this week. Because of the difficulty of getting Christmas goods in February when the main Free From Food Awards judging is done, the Christmas session is always combined with the Awards' Christmas party in late November. Entrants for the sixteen other categories still have until the 12th December to get their entries in.
